Coming up on Episode 457 Thursday, May 9, 2024
Some reflection on this crisp May morning. We’ll have some music to both soothe and saturate our consciences. Much has been done on the road to equality for all in this country and the music we’re sharing with you this morning will favor some of the trailblazing African American performers who continue the fight for a seat at the table. Nashville is not the South; but it’s not the North, either. We’ll be sharing the music of The Staple Singers, Nina Simone, Linda Martell and Tracy Chapman in a tribute to those who are some of those who have led the charge. New music and contemporary tracks today from Rissi Palmer and Miko Marks, Carsie Blanton, and a new solo effort from the Wailin’ Jennys’ Ruth Moody. Have yourself a spring fling and join us on West Sonoma County Community Radio every Thursday morning at 9am Pacific. Catch us on our stream at https://www.kowsfm/listen.

Last week’s (Episode 456) show and playlist:
The sun comes up for another beautiful Sonoma County morning and there’s hits to be had including some tracks from T-Bone Burnett’s latest album, and it’s proof positive that he’s an American treasure whose perspective and production are the Americana gold standard. As a collaborator, historian, composer, songwriter, musician, and renaissance man, there’s not much he hasn’t contributed to in that space. We’ll share songs of his early years, collaborations and at least two tracks from his latest album “The Other Side”. There’s more where that came from: Heather Little, Charley Crockett, Elliott Brood and Martha Spencer round out the new music this morning, our first show of May 2024. We all hope you can drop by and enjoy another two hours of music from the Americana comfy chair, live from the KOWS studios in Santa Rosa and broadcasting the signal far and beyond over the ether.
